Vail Closes Out An Epic 2018-19 Season on 4/21
Posted On: 04/19/2019Vail Mountain closes for the season on Sunday, April 21 at 4 p.m
Lifts Open at 8:30 a.m.
The lifts will stop running, bringing lift-accessed skiing and snowboarding to an end for the epic 2018-19 snow season. Vail’s closing day is Sunday, April 21. Vail Mountain is skiing great with winter conditions, and there is still a ton of snow. So, there will be plenty of runs open on closing day. The major front side lifts will remain open as well as High Noon Express in Sun Up Bowl. Over 2500 acres are open and 130 of 195 trails. Blue Sky Basin is closed. Other lift closures include Game Creek, Sun Up Express, Sourdough, Orient Express, and Teacup Express. See all lift information here >
It could get busy on the mountain in the afternoon. Vail Mountain suggests downloading early at the end of the day to get ahead of any crowds. In anticipation of the need to better accommodate guests for downloading, lifts will close to uphill traffic at the following times:
• 2:30 p.m. – Riva Bahn Express Lift closes to uphill access
• 3:00 p.m. – Gondola One, Wildwood Express, Mountaintop Express, High Noon Express Lift and Northwoods Express Lift closes to upload.
• 4:00 p.m. – Avanti Express Lift, Little Eagle Lift and Eagle Bahn Gondola closes to upload
• 4:00 p.m. – All operating lifts and decks close for the season per U.S. Forest Service permit
Keep in mind that skiers and riders are allowed one small backpack per person and this bag has to fit in a five-gallon container. Bags that do not meet the requirement are subject to search and will only be allowed if they contain no alcohol or controlled substances. For more information about Vail Mountain’s closing day operations, visit the Mountain Information Center in Lionshead or call 970-754-8245.
Here’s a big Thank You to the Vail Mountain Operations for allowing us to have a season to remember and keeping us safe! And remember, opening day for the 2019-20 season is just 7 short months away. If you want to plan your trip back to Colorado, please keep an eye on the shuttle sale page. Well have the first sale in July.
